PERSONAL BIO

My interest in bridge engineering began in high school when my father worked for a construction company. Through his role, he witnessed the unique challenges involved in building bridges the company faced compared to roadways. As an administrator, he experienced how highway infrastructure significantly stimulated the local economy and improved life quality for the people. My father often took me to the construction site and had me stay in the field talking to engineers, accountants and staff in the company. After spending several weeks at the construction site with my father, it was very clear that I decided to be a bridge engineer. That goal guided my educational and professional journey ever since. I went to Xi’an Highway Transportation University (later renamed to Chang’an University) which was known as the only university dedicated to highway transportation in Asia at the time.  There, I earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in bridge and tunnel engineering at the university.

After graduation, I joined the Research Institute of Highway under the Ministry of Transportation, one of China’s leading institutes in highway research and design. During my twelve years there, I served in a variety of roles as lead engineer, researcher, professor, and project manager.

In 2012, I moved to the United States to pursue doctoral studies at New Mexico State University, focusing on non-destructive evaluation techniques for bridge infrastructure. After earning my Ph.D. in 2017, I accepted a faculty position as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The experience provided valuable training in engineering education and research and helped shape my approach to teaching and mentoring students.

In 2021, I joined LeTourneau University, where I have continued my passion for engineering education. I particularly appreciate the University's close-knit community, small class sizes, and strong faculty-student relationships. I am grateful that LeTourneau University offers me the opportunity to serve in students' academic, professional, spiritual, and personal growth.
