What drew you to serve at LeTourneau University, and how do you see God working in the lives of students here?
LeTourneau has been special to me for several years. I have seen God work on LeTourneau's campus as a highschooler attending summer camps, as a college student, and as a staff member. LeTourneau University, with its spaces, practices, and leadership, inspires community growth, personal growth, and prioritizes spiritual growth. It's a campus that has invited me into a loving community and shaped me to be the person that I am today. I am incredibly grateful for the care that LeTourneau University had for me as a student. I wanted to be a staff member at LETU because the mission and vision of LeTourneau is something that I wanted to be a part of. I believe that LeTourneau University
What do you love most about walking alongside students as they discover their calling and prepare for the future?
I have been working with high school students for quite a few years through Passage Institute and through my church, and I have loved being able to support and help students pursue their unique callings. In my ministry, I feel like I can offer a unique perspective because I did not have everything figured out before college. So many students feel like they need to know their career path before declaring a major or deciding on a college, which makes the college search stressful. Because I switched my major and was not certain of my career goals, I can affirm students that it is okay to be unsure about their future even when choosing college.
How has your own college or faith journey shaped the way you guide students today?
My experience as a college student guides me to the way that I approach admissions because I can put myself in their shoes. My job is to walk with the student at their own pace, taking stress off the experience as much as possible. I want to care for my students by giving them up-to-date information, helping them think through and weigh college decisions, and to listen to their individual needs. I want them to experience the love of God through every interaction with our team as I do my best to serve each student as best as I can!
What advice would you give a student who is nervous about stepping into this next season of life?
I would love students to know that everything about their career does not have to be decided before stepping onto a college campus. While you are in college, academic advisors, resident directors, and peers will continue to walk alongside you and help you in career decisions! As an admissions counselor, I will be the first to help you navigate those decisions, but you will have guidance through your whole time at LeTourneau. Whether you change your major, declare a minor, or add a concentration, people at LeTourneau will always be there to talk through and encourage you in your next steps!
In your view, what makes the LeTourneau community special, and why should students feel excited about joining it?
LeTourneau University's community is one that is centered on encouraging spiritual growth and flourishing in all students! While academics is incredibly important, LeTourneau does a great job with providing ample opportunities for students to build community, take care of themselves, and to enrich their spiritual lives. This allows for students to feel connected to the community and build deep friendships throughout their time in college. LeTourneau dedication to loving their students was a tremendous blessing to me
