2025 Spring Masterworks Concert

LeTourneau University’s 2025 Spring Masterworks Concert will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 906 Padon St. in Longview on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m.  Dr. Jim Taylor, Director of Fine Arts at LeTourneau, will direct the LeTourneau Singers and the Longview Civic Chorus and orchestra, with guest singers from Christian Heritage Classical School and Marshall High School. Soprano Leigh Latchford, tenor Jon Starling, and baritone Chris Turner will perform the vocal solos in the concert.

Felix Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise, subtitled “A Symphony-Cantata on Words of the Holy Bible for Soloists, Choir, and Orchestra,” will be the centerpiece of the concert.  Another great work, Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams for baritone solo, choir, and orchestra, will be performed.  In addition, the tenor aria “Cujus animam” from Rossini’s Stabat mater and the soprano aria “Si, Mi chiamano Mimì” from Puccini’s La bohême will be sung.  A special feature on the concert will be the Studio Treble Choir of Kilgore performing the Kyrie and Gloria movements from Delibes’ Messe brêve.

Please consider helping to sponsor this magnificent concert, as our tradition is to offer the performance free of charge so that all can attend regardless of financial ability. A concert of this magnitude is important for East Texas by 1) bringing to light the great masterpieces of Western Civilization, 2) providing training and experience for our students and community singers, 3) offering performances of artistic beauty to the city of Longview, 4) providing challenging work to our local musicians, and 5) glorifying God for the gift and the ability to express our deepest concerns through music.  As with everything, expenses have risen, and your support is very important to our mission.

You may choose to sponsor a specific musician or simply make a tax-deductible donation of any amount.  To sponsor the costs of a musician ($250), please indicate which instrumentalist(s) you wish to support in the comments section of the form below. Names of sponsors along with the instrument(s) sponsored will be included in the concert program unless you choose to remain anonymous.
