Rebekah has been married to her husband, Michael, since 2004. They have 3 children: Isaiah, Bethel, and Judah. They have lived in Longview since 2017. Rebekah was drawn to LeTourneau because of the mission and devotion to seeing work as a calling from God. She enjoys playing a small part in helping prepare students to reach every workplace, every nation. She is a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and is active in the worship ministry. In her free time she enjoys tending to her vegetable garden.

What drew you to serve at LeTourneau University, and how do you see God working in the lives of students here?

I was drawn to serve at LeTourneau because of its mission to prepare students to reach the world for Christ through their vocation. I have always felt that wherever God has placed me has been my mission field, whether that be in the classroom as a student, teacher, or in an office setting. Finding a place like LeTourneau that values the importance of living authentically from Sunday through Saturday has been a tremendous blessing. I enjoy being part of instilling that authenticity in the generations to come.

What do you love most about walking alongside students as they discover their calling and prepare for the future?

I love seeing students take hold of their faith and make it their own. The college years are a time of growth and change, and it’s exciting to see how God prepares students for the unique calling He places on their lives.

How has your own college or faith journey shaped the way you guide students today?

Proverbs 19:21 (CSB) says, “Many plans are in a person’s heart, but the LORD’s decree will prevail.” Similarly, Proverbs 16:9 (CSB) explains, “A person’s heart plans his way, but the LORD determines his steps.” I’ve seen these verses play out in my life in many ways, and I know that making plans is important, but giving those plans over to God and letting Him work His will through them is even more important. As I support students through their college journey, I look to help them keep God at the center of their planning.

What advice would you give to a student who is nervous about stepping into this next season of life?

You are not alone! So many students feel the same way. Take this opportunity to lean into God and look for his direction and to find a community of friends who can surround and support you. That’s the kind of community you’ll find at LeTourneau.

In your view, what makes the LeTourneau community special, and why should students feel excited about joining it?

The LeTourneau community is special because of students like you! LeTourneau students are unique, which makes every day exciting. Faculty and Staff have a heart for coming alongside students to help them grow as we journey in Christ together. This makes LeTourneau a very special place to grow personally, spiritually, and academically.
